Gary Wilson Free I, 79, of Brunswick, MD passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Genesis Ballenger Creek. Gary is a life long resident of Brunswick, MD being born in a house on Maple Avenue on Mother’s Day, May 13, 1939 to the late Woodrow Wilson and Madeline (Woods) Free. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Frances “Jackie” (Snoots) Free. Gary started his musical career playing guitar in his father’s band, The Woody Free Trio. After his father’s retirement from the band, Gary started his own band, Free Spirit. He was employed at Micro Frets of Frederick, MD and at retirement was working at McCutchen’s. He enjoyed Beans in the Belfry in his later years, listening to local bands, and joining in from time to time.
Gary is survived by his children, Candy Poole, and her husband, John, Gary Free II, and his wife, Lucy, Tammy Coates, Chet and Perry Free, seventeen grandchildren, two sisters Patsy Star and Dinah Bently, and a brother, Charles Free, and his wife, Debbie.
A Funeral Service will be held at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, MD 21716 on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 4:00 PM. Rev. Raymond Monninger, Jr. will officiate. Interment private. Viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
