Jean Blaise Kikudi, 52, was born in Belgium on July 15, 1966. After coming to the United States later in his life, and after some time of life and work in finance and business on the East Coast and in Washington, D.C., Jean Blaise landed in Hagerstown, MD, where he lived the roughly last decade of his life. He was a very devout Catholic, a very pious and faithful man of prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ whom he loved so ardently. In joyful moments and in times of good humor, his smile was contagious and would brighten any room. He had a love and appreciation for sacred music and the arts, he loved attending mass and receiving His Lord in His Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist as often as he was able. He had a particular interest and joy in the traditional and devotional life of the Catholic Church. Jean Blaise was also a devotee of the Latin Extraordinary Form mass; and when not serving humbly and dutifully his brothers at the Rescue Mission in town, he often could be found quietly praying Vespers or the Rosary of Our Lady at his home parish of Saint Mary’s in Hagerstown. He was also a loyal member of the church choir there, as he had a strong, beautiful voice and loved to sing in worship of the Truine God. A man of a lively and deep faith, yet also humbly aware of his own sins and brokenness, he yet firmly grasped and believed the words of the intercessory prayer he prayed thousands of times: “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.” May Jean Blaise join the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. John, St. Blaise and all the saints and angels in adoring God forever in Heaven.
